The Hebrews is a documentary project focused on the Hebrew & Jewish literary canon. The series offers film portraits of Hebrew writers and Jewish authors, from the 17th century to the present. 16 feature-length documentary films have been completed in the project so far. Yair Qedar, the project founder, along with ten other Israeli film directors have produced films that have premiered in film festivals, aired on television, and screened in hundreds of theatres, cinematheques and community and cultural centers, in Israel and around the world, earning 20 awards to date.
